Our Team.
A Singaporean-American bonsai artist, Mee Leng has spent years between the humid gardens of her childhood and the dry light of the Arizona high desert. Her trees carry that whole journey — patient, precise, and quietly alive. She believes in flow, the energy of the tree.
Now, based in Williams along Historic Route 66, she runs Hikari Bonsai from a single bench, where every tree is wired, pruned, and repotted by hand.
She is the agent of the quiet art of a small tree.
In her organization, Bill Claxton is the event manager . He takes care of the roadshow and workshop event management, from Singapore based to now in USA. Bill's home was originally from Mill Valley, San Francisco, often love to walk into the Red Wood forest. Then in the bonsai arena in Singapore, he started to love the small little trees. Back to USA now in Williams, he spend more time in Hikari Bonsai, organizing bonsai events.
Lucas Claxton origin from Singapore, and thru his parent, Bill and Mee Leng, he was brought up to appreciate trees. In the last many years, since Mee Leng was so involved in bonsai art, Lucas naturally surrounded by the bonsai art in his home. And Lucas assist MeeLeng in the web page development, investing his knowledge to build her website.
And in our bonsai garden in Williams, we have our Parker that is the guard dog to our bonsai. Each morning, Parker will sun bathing in our bonsai garden. Often he loves to get close to the bonsai and smell the little tree, with curiosity, yet gentle touch with his paw. At our workshop, Parker will walk around inspecting each new tree created by our participants. He is certainly our Zen Parker !
